My recent statement about Israel-bashing

I wrote this during a discussion about a friend of mine:

“I try to make subtle distinctions to be as accurate as possible. I’ve noticed that when I do this, people who think in the opposite way slam me for being inconsistent. Take Israel, for example. Israel-bashers take the real examples of Israel’s dismal treatment of the Palestinians and translate that into outright labling of the Israeli state itself as criminal. When you do that, you are expressing prejudice. So even if the human rights violations by Israel ended, the Israel-bashers would still demand that the Jewish state should not exist because the act of establishing it displaced some Palestinians.

What they don’t tell you is that if Israel had never come into existence, the Jews still living in Palestine would be under ARAB rule and would be subject to whatever treatment the Arab rulers felt like doing. Given that most Arab states even today are either absolute monarchies or military dictatorships, how can efforts to establish a democracy for Jews like what was done in 1948 not be justified?

So I will slam Israel for specific acts that are excessive, but defend its right to exist and protect its citizens within lawful limits.”

And that’s the only decent way to operate. Anyone who takes a different route is a hypocrite, looking for excuses to have a second Holocaust in the Holy Land.

  1. What they don’t tell you is that if Israel had never come into existence, the Jews still living in Palestine would be under ARAB rule and would be subject to whatever treatment the Arab rulers felt like doing

Your opinion? Must be. If you studied the region’s history or talked to “Eastern” Jews in Israel, you would have learned that:

    1. Jews always lived in peace with the Arabs and Muslims since the days of the Islamic Empire.
    2. Jews were saved by the Muslims during the Spanish Inquisition.
    3. Jews enjoyed living in Palestine freely and until Zionism (and terrorism) arrived.
    4. Eastern Jews (Arab Jews) have tried to leave Israel time and again since they are discriminated against in Israel. Guess where they wanted to go back? Arab countries. I know because I lived in Israel and talked to many such families.

It would be better if you research the accuracy of your comments before you yourself spread hatred, whether directly or indirectly!

  2. Attendingtheworld,

    Regarding your points:
    1. So you think that the Jews in Palestine should forever be made to live as a stateless minority in their own ancestral homeland, as long as they are in a state of “peace” with the Arabs who have a dozen states all over the Middle East? That’s not freedom or equality! Even the Kurds of Iraq and Turkey should have their own independent state (Kurdistan) and so should the Tibetians. So I’m being consistent. You are not.
    2. Irrelevant
    3. See my point no 1.
    4. That claim has no support and goes against all reason. Shame on you! I think you are confused about the Israeli Arabs. They remained within the borders of Israel and were granted Israeli citizenship, even though they were NOT Jews. And if they wanted to leave, what’s stopping them?

Saying that I’m spreading hatred is also to lie.

  3. Dale

You’re entitled to your wrong opinion.

You read between the lines even though there’s nothing there. Palestine is as Arab as it is Jewish. If you can’t accept that, then enjoy the world you live in.

Points 2 and 4 are very relevant. Zionists always claim that Muslims want to kill Jews. Even the Jews themselves know this fact and have made statements to this effect here, on the West Coast, in Public gatherings. Again, you and the rest of the neocons, will not believe it even if you’ve heard it! Point 4 is a fact and was also written about in a major publication. Your ignorance is paramount! Jewish writers have written about this but you’re information seems to be limited to FOX News and the Bush Broadcast network!

    Example:

About 125,000 Jews left Iraq for Israel in the late 1940s and into 1952, most because they had been lied to and put into a panic by what I came to learn were Zionist bombs.

    Naeim Giladi, Iraqi Jewish writer.

One of many.. Read Illan Pappe’s writings and findings and maybe you’ll “learn” something other than the garbage you’ve been brainwashed with. I’m not here to teach history but I am here to dispute the NaZionists agenda! After all, extremist Jews and Zionists already tried to rewrite history and change the facts in Wikipedia.. and thankfully, got caught! And that’s a fact!

  4. You read between the lines even though there’s nothing there. Palestine is as Arab as it is Jewish. If you can’t accept that, then enjoy the world you live in.

Strawman. I said nothing about Palestine not being partly Arab. Of course it is. The UN agreement to devide Palestine between Jews and Arabs was a recognition of that fact. It was the Arabs who broke that agreement by declaring war on Israel as soon as it declared its independence. There is no excuse for that.

I am aware of all the propaganda posted bashing Israel. I am also aware of how easy it is for people who already hate Israel for being a Jewish state to make up nonsense out of thin air and post it on a website, and encourage other anti-Semites to pass it on.

Again, you and the rest of the neocons, will not believe it even if you’ve heard it!…Jewish writers have written about this but you’re information seems to be limited to FOX News and the Bush Broadcast network,

You call me a NEOCON because I am not an extremist Israel-basher like you?! That’s rich! What are you, a COMMUNIST?! No, I wouldn’t assume that, but I know most Communists are anti-Israel even though Communism has also killed millions of people around the world. Hypocrites! And your last remark about FOX News is simply more idiotic abuse.

Being an Honorable Skeptic, I refuse to take your word at face value. The historical consensus over several decades contradicts you at every turn, and means far more to me than the rantings of a few extremist crackpots from out of nowhere.

  5. Good post! For those who are so against Israel, why don’t they stop watching the media bias, and go see for themselves.. the good in Israel is rarely spoken of.. pardon my boldness.. call me a Zionist if you wish

(Dale Husband: Sadly, when I wrote that blog entry above (2008), Benjamin Netanyahu had not yet completely destroyed the credibility of Israel in my eyes. I believe that he never intended for the Palestinians to establish their own sovereign state equal in nature to Israel and I condemn him as an anti-Arab and anti-Muslim bigot. He absolutely must be overthrown!)
