Damn the NRA, round 2

Sometimes I find myself seriously questioning if the Second Amendment to the U. S. Constitution should actually be repealed. Should bearing arms actually be a privilege rather than a right? Should only certain people that have been proven to be able to manage firearms properly and in a consistent manner be allowed to own one? Read this story and if it does not make your cringe in shock, I wonder if you are human.

Man Accidentally Shoots Himself at NRA Headquarters: Police

The employee suffered a minor wound to his lower body and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to Fairfax county police

A National Rifle Association employee accidentally shot himself while doing firearms training at the organization’s headquarters, according to police.

The 46-year-old man’s pistol accidentally discharged Thursday afternoon as he holstered the gun in Fairfax County, Virginia, police said.

The accidental shooting happened at the NRA’s National Firearms Museum at 11250 Waples Mill Road in Fairfax.

The employee suffered a minor wound to his lower body and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers worked with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and no charges are expected, according to police.

News4 has reached out to the NRA for comment, but has not received an immediate response.

A common argument about gun control is that the best way to defeat a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. Imagine this scenario:

A terrorist starts shooting up a shopping mall, injuring and killing more than a dozen people. Several people call 911 on their cell phones to report the incident. Meanwhile, a law abiding citizen pulls out his own concealed gun and successfully shoots down the terrorist. A moment later, the police arrive and seeing the good man with his gun out, promptly shoot him down too. Both the terrorist and the good guy die.

The NRA is wrong, period. We need to get rid of it, because the common people simply cannot be trusted with firearms, not unless they are also members of the National Guard or a state militia (referred to as “a well-regulated militia” in that Second Amendment itself). The idiocy of states allowing concealed guns or even openly carrying guns by non-police officers in public places should be painfully obvious now!

Here is something I found on Facebook years ago:

Destroy the NRA

    {{{Sheriff: 4-year-old fatally shoots himself at day care
    ORANGE, Va. (AP) — Virginia authorities say a 4-year-old boy fatally shot himself at the home of his child care provider, which is also the home of a Stafford County sheriff’s deputy.

    The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that the child was pronounced dead Monday, the sheriff’s deputy wasn’t home and the gun was not a service weapon. The statement also says an autopsy is being conducted and more details won’t be released until the Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation is complete.

    The Stafford County Sheriff’s office says the deputy began working for the agency in December 2016 and is still in the academy.}}}

    First Columbine High School, then the Sandy Hook Elementary School, now a daycare for toddlers?!
