Another Government Shutdown in the USA!

On October 1, 2025, the federal government of the United States began a shutdown at 12:01 a.m. EDT as a result of congressional inaction on passing appropriations legislation for the 2026 fiscal year, which began that day. The shutdown resulted from partisan disagreements over federal spending levels, foreign aid rescissions, and health insurance subsidies.

It has furloughed roughly 900,000 federal employees and left another 700,000 working without pay. While essential services such as Medicare, Medicaid, the Transportation Security Administration, and Amtrak continued, many agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the WIC program, faced partial or full suspensions of operations.

The shutdown is the eleventh in U.S. history resulting in curtailment of government services, and the third under President Donald Trump. It is the first U.S. federal government shutdown since the 2018–2019 shutdown.

Every single government shutdown over the past several decades has been the fault of the Republicans, which because of their bigoted Conservative ideology refuse to compromise with Democrats on anything, resulting in completely unnecessary partisan gridlock.

This matter is especially frustrating because Republicans control BOTH houses of Congress, plus Donald Trump, a Republican, is President, so passing a budget reflecting Republican priorities should be a simple matter. The problem:  not all Republicans are MAGA extremists like Trump is, and so these moderates are reluctant to support a budget that cuts down the federal government. But the LEADERS of the Congressional Republicans ARE MAGA extremists and control the agenda. 

A political leadership that refuses to compromise with opposing parties is authoritarian in nature and thus is unfit to rule or be representatives in a diverse Democracy. The Republican Party itself is illegitimate and must be brought down completely and replaced by another party that respects the standards and principles of the United States Constitution itself. 

May I suggest the Libertarian Party?

An Open Letter to President Barack Obama

To Barack Obama, the President of the United States of America:

The Affordable Care Act is the LAW OF THE LAND, passed by both Houses of Congress (yes, even the Republican controlled House of Representatives), signed by you, and affirmed as constitutional by the U. S. Supreme Court. Therefore, attempts by Republicans in Congress to DEFUND what is federal law is criminal behavior, just as disobedience to any other law is criminal behavior. We should allow no exceptions here. By engaging in criminal behavior, the Republicans sitting in Congress, even going so far as to shut down the government rather allow what is federal law to be funded have forfeited their right to be representatives of the people, like anyone else who commits a federal crime. I call upon you, as the elected Chief Executive of the United States, to direct the Department of Justice to issue arrest warrants against every Republican in Congress and charge them all with CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT SEDITION! END THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN BY REMOVING THE ONES RESPONSIBLE FROM OFFICE NOW!

I want to see the libertarians become more influential, to the point that they completely overthrow the Republican Party, thus becoming the Democratic Party’s main opposition.
