The Razzies Should be Ended.

The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies and Razzie Awards) is a parody award show honoring the worst of cinematic failures. Co-founded by UCLA film graduates and film industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy, the Razzie Awards’ satirical annual ceremony is predated by its progenitor, the Academy Awards, by five decades. The term raspberry is used in its irreverent sense, as in “blowing a raspberry“. The statuette is a golf ball-sized raspberry atop a Super 8mm film reel atop a 35-millimeter film core with brown wood shelf paper glued and wrapped around it—sitting atop a jar lid spray-painted gold. The Golden Raspberry Foundation has claimed that the award “encourages well-known filmmakers and top-notch performers to own their bad.”

But those award events don’t have much credibility when they have to take back nominations for themselves being tasteless.

The Worst Actress nomination of then twelve-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for her performance in the Firestarter remake was the subject of backlash,[8][9][10][11][12] following which Razzies co-founder John J. B. Wilson issued a public apology and announced that the organization would no longer allow children to be nominated in any category,[8] placing itself in Armstrong’s place on the ballot.[1][8][13]

But even adults can be badly hurt by such mockery. Do we really need to be so mean spirited towards people who are just trying to make a living?

Metallica Should Retire One of Their Songs Forever!

In 1991, the heavy metal band Metallica released their self-titled “black” album, which after its release became the best selling metal album of all time. One of the songs on it is “Don’t Tread on Me”. The song’s title was a common slogan among American revolutionaries about 250 years ago. But….that song has not aged well at all.

To understand why, we must look at the lyrics.

So the song is loaded with revolutionary slogans. However…..
Never begins it, never, but once engagedNever surrenders, showing the fangs of rage
That’s an outright lie as far as American war efforts are concerned. We absolutely DID begin a war in Iraq on 2003, attacking that country when it wasn’t even threatening to attack any of its neighbors. And because we insisted on doing that, wasting so much manpower and money……we eventually were discredited, forcing us to leave both Iraq and Afghanistan after completely wearing out our welcome on both those countries. Not to mention we also gave up on Vietnam and left that country to its fate in 1973.
And NOW in 2026, we have actually started ANOTHER war in the Middle East, against Iran!
And there are other slogans that right-wing bigots might find appealing, such as:

So if you dare to oppose right-wing policies, you might get DEPORTED, eh?
To secure peace is to prepare for war
We Americans spend so much money on military forces we might as well be a world conquering EMPIRE! We do not merely prepare for war, we look for excuses to openly wage it!
From now on, every time I hear that song, I will think of fascism, NOT freedom. Don’t say you won’t tolerate being treaded on if you insist on treading on others, HYPOCRITES!
