While I understand that it is possible for an innocent person to be executed for a crime they didn’t commit and that a disproportionate number of men of color may be executed in the United States, I think it is absolutely WRONG to class the death penalty, in itself, as a human rights violation. Some people absolutely should be put to death, period.  The horrible case of former rock star Ian Watkins is the most damning argument for that.

If Watkins had been legally executed by the state, that would have been a sign of law and order. As it stands, it is just another case of unnecessary violence that degrades us all. So let the United Kingdom, and all other countries, reinstate the death penalty for serial murderers as well as child molestors. It’s the logical thing to do.
