Clownfish TV is a YouTube channel hosted by a couple who call themselves Kneon and Geeky Sparkles. And they are extremely prolific, often putting out three or four videos a day, so clearly they make a living out of this, it’s not just their hobby.

You’d think that would make them trustworthy. However, look at some of the titles of their videos:

Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, and some on the right are blaming DEI, ESG, and ‘wokeness’ for that collapse. Leftwing media outlets deny this is the case, of course, but it is getting harder to deny that hiring people based on anything other than meritocracy may have disastrous financial consequences.
It’s always a red flag to me when someone uses “woke” as an insult against liberals. To me, that’s as bad as using the N-word as a racist attack. And here are more examples:

They even have recently targeted NPR for attack. NPR is known for not being owned by a corporation pushing a right-wing agenda like FOX News is notorious for.

NPR is in deep sh*t. Their revenue is drying up and they had to slash 10% of their staff and cancel a bunch of podcasts. They’re going to ramp up calls for donations, but who has the money to bankroll them now? They’d better not try to shake down gamers, as their reporters spent years demonizing them.
So far, I have NEVER seen them attack FOX News, or any other media outlet known to be leaning to the right.
So no, these people do NOT seem apolitical to me.

While I certainly appreciate the hosts’ slamming corporations like Disney for being WAY TOO BIG, I find their using political slurs in their videos to be offensive. Their eagerness to defend Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling, who is known to be a transphobe, is also disturbing. As rich and influential as she is, she needs no one else to defend her. The massive royalties she made off her books, the movies based on those books, and other aspects of the franchise she started means she is set for life. Meanwhile, transgender people have been MURDERED around the world (along with other LGBT people, and racial minorities…..and women…..and atheists and other dissenters from dominant forms of religious bigotry), but do they even MENTION that? Nope! Doesn’t seem to concern them in the slightest. And assuming the drawings representing them are accurate, they are clearly white people and thus they may be completely blinded by their own white privilege.

Those same Democrats were also racists and even supported slavery before the Civil War. Bigotries of various types tend to reinforce each other, because it is all about judging people not as individuals and by their deeds but by what class they belong to as opposed to the ruling class. That’s what history shows.

Protect women from WHAT?! The idea that women are under any sort of threat from the movement defending transgender people’s rights is EXACTLY why we call her views transphobia, you idiot! Old style democrats? Try watching their recent videos. They’re constantly complaining about diversity, wokeness, liberals, etc. They’re overtly rightwing.
You have never actually listened to Clown Fish TV for any length. Your post stinks of desiring attention by stirring fake controversy. If you watch CFT, you’d know how ridiculous your take is. I’ve listened to them for years. They’ve been pretty transparent the little they touch on politics… and they’re not Republicans.
How about instead of trying to tear down folks who are successful, you, instead, work on producing content that is informative, ACCURATE, and people actually want to read. There’s enough garbage, controversy, inaccurate information, and hateful folks online. We don’t need 1 more.
Not only did I listen to them for a while, I subscribed to them for months because I liked their criticisms of Disney and other companies that have way too much power over popular culture. But over time I became increasingly suspicious of their motives. Then I decided I finally had enough of them and so I unsubscribed from their channel and blocked them for good. Enough was enough!
People who want to be objective and fair in their criticism of others do not use “woke” as a slur, full stop! It smacks of being “edgy” for its own sake, which is immature.
Consider that you (and they) may be at least as biased as I am. The fact that I linked directly to much of their content allows my own readers to judge for themselves what I have written above.
I used to be subscribed to their channel, years ago. Initially, they were interesting, their video topics covered comics, video games, movies, tv shows, Disney, etc. I thought that “hey they are willing to not sugar coat everything and they are willing to give a more honest opinion.”
I think that they kept trying to find what got them the most views and they started to lean more into “outrage content,” as it got them more views per video. They started to use right leaning terms, “cancelled”, “woke”, etc. a lot more. In 2020, with the covid lock downs was when I unsubscribed from them. It’s entirely possible that I got tired of these wedge topics in 2020, and it wasn’t necessarily their content that pushed me over the edge. In 2021, I decided to try to give them another chance, thinking “oh lock downs are over, and the election season is done… hopefully they have moved on.” Nope, still the same conversations from the previous year, they seemed to praise David Zaslav, Gina Carano, Elon Musk, etc. People that still seem idolized by those that lean right.
Something that I noticed is that their videos all have the format:
1) State topic, complain about the topic, and give held opinion.
2) Use one source of questionable information (news site) or someone else’s opinion that aligns with their held opinion.
3) Restate held opinion.
4) Point out the industry/company is broken, hint that someone like them knows better than those in charge.
5) Restate held opinion. Complain again about how its currently broken.
6) Push their Shadowbinders comic (which is “meh”) and/or push their gaming channel.
Overall, I’m not entirely sure that they are personally right-wing. Their channel definitely has the undertones of a right-wing channel made by an edgy high school student. Even looking at the recent video titles, it looks like they are still leaning into the concepts that are tired right-leaning tropes (2016 Ghostbusters! oh wow, there has already been a movie after that, but let’s beat this dead horse again).
It’s sort of like how washed-up actors and rock stars like Kirk Cameron and Ted Nugent have sold themselves out to far-right causes like fundamentalist Christianity or supporting Trump. The followers of such cults are not known for their critical thinking.
