I just discovered some photos that were posted on Facebook. I will reproduce them here for the sake of discussion.

Note: I would advise this tweeter to delete the last sentence; that is certainly not how poor rural whites see themselves. Most of them simply want to live in the middle class like their parents and grandparents did. But they can’t.

The proliferation of thrift stores like Goodwill certainly can be explained by this attitude.

Donald Trump was raised in a rich family and his father gave him the money to start his business career. Trump has never known poverty and never had to do any manual labor, nor have his adult children.

Undocumented immigrants are even worse off than most rural American whites, coming up here to live in de facto slavery. And why do they come? Only because life in Mexico is even worse mainly due to drug-fueled crime and third-world style poverty. To send most of them back to Mexico would be a virtual death sentence.

So if a man robs a bank and gets a million dollars from the crime, does that make him moral, wise, or deserving of anything other than a prison sentence?

Karl Marx and the other early Communists of the 19th Century knew better. If hard work did lead to wealth in most cases, in a few generations there would be NO working class!

Question: What was so “good” about keeping blacks in slavery? About taking half of Mexico’s territory in the aftermath of the Mexican War and also killing Native Americans, taking their land and confining the survivors to “reservations”? About taking over places like Hawaii by force and deposing the native governments? THAT was how white Americans got most of their prosperity!

Indeed, they will find themselves still impoverished, because some of them will then have to do the work those undocumented immigrants were doing…..and minimum wage will never make anyone rich!
